The Healthy Entrepreneur, Jennifer Walsh’s morning, Wake Up With Walsh

Each morning, you can start your day with a morning mantra to help guide you to be a healthy / mindful / thoughtful leader within your business, within your team, or within your community.

Known for her online video and podcast series called Walk with Walsh, Jennifer discusses what it means to be a healthy leader with Founders, CEO’s, Innovators, Philanthropists, and all of those that are making an impact within their communities, as she walks through iconic Central Park. Jennifer was an early female founder in the late 90’s with her creation of Beauty Bar and pioneered the way we shopped for beauty going forward.

2018 marks her 20th year as an entrepreneur and creating new business ventures all along the way. With her 20th year as an entrepreneur, she has launched her 3rd business, Walsh Media Group, which is a tech, data, science and wellness platform using all that she has learned over the past 20 years in business and creating a fully involved media group tying together the importance of health / wellness / business in a very unique way.

Jennifer fully believes that a healthy business depends on healthy leadership. She also is a strong advocate for the health and healing benefits of walking in nature and what it does for the health of your brain. This is also why she conducts her interviews while walking in nature. We must truly walk the walk to be able to talk the talk.

We often overlook the importance of self care as part of ones overall health. Many people even overlook taking steps for true relaxation, and see that as a luxury. When you are working for yourself or leading a team, it is imperative to take the measures necessary to truly feel at your best.

Recently I realized it had been quite some time since I had been to the spa for any form of treatment. That might sound very odd coming from someone who has spent the past 20 + years in the beauty industry, but like many of you, I have put everything and everyone else first.

Thankfully Oasis Day Spa had a spa service that sounded not only incredibly relaxing, but something that would be good for my skin and good for my overall health. I chose to experience the body scrub / vichy shower / body wrap treatment and if I said that I might have dozed a bit during that hour and a half treatment, it wouldn’t be a lie. It was the most relaxed I have felt in a very long time.

The treatment starts with a deep all over massage using mineral rich sea salts which is not only aromatic but also so soothing. The scrub exfoliates the skin, draws out impurities and improves circulation. Once the scrub has been massaged completely from shoulders to your toes, the masseuse then uses the Vichy shower to rinse the scrub. The pulsating water massages and relaxes any sore parts of the body. A Vichy shower isn’t only the best way to remove the salt scrub but it also aids in lymphatic circulation. This process helps detoxify, which then also helps fight infection.

Once the scrub was rinsed off with the Vichy shower, the masseuse then used a seaweed wrap to envelope the entire body which was warm and snug. Also, yes one of the times that I fell asleep I was so relaxed. This seaweed wrap stimulates the body as well as detoxifies. It is infused with peppermint and essentials oils which hydrates and soothes the skin. After 15-20 minutes the wrap is removed and once again the treatment is rinsed and massaged off by the Vichy shower heads.

This was one of the most relaxing body treatments I have had and my skin was soft for days following. I highly recommend taking the time out of your schedule to truly make time for YOU or give this as a wonderful gift. Oasis Day Spa has two locations, one on Park Avenue in NYC and one in Westchester County, NY.
